Garden City, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

The NAPW Dallas, TX Local Chapter hosted its first Fashion Show and Expo on October 18th in lieu of its monthly professional networking meeting. The event, which was held at The White Space, 2001 N. Lamar Street, Suite 500 in Dallas, was a huge success that attracted nearly 60 members and guests, many of whom hosted vendor booths. The fashion show was sponsored by Status Designs, Sarah Jones, Owner; Simply Positive Jewelry, Susan Mikkelsen Pielsticker, Owner; and Dave Kramer Photography, Dave Kramer, Owner. The event was open to the public.

The event was a great success as we had members that have never attended a single meeting come to enjoy the activities or host a vendor booth, said Chapter President Tisa Salazar. Many of our members are entrepreneurs and were looking to showcase their businesses, so this was the perfect venue!

Tisa opened the event by welcoming everyone, then briefly acknowledging the efforts of those who worked so hard to pull the event together. Deadra Marsh Foy worked with Sarah Jones to plan the Fashion Show. Models who volunteered (many of whom were NAPW members or their families) included Deanna Tipton, Cristi Campo, Kendra Campo, Allyson Henslee, Joanna Swanson, and Janie Bergamasco.

Local designer Sarah Jones introduced three styles within her clothing lines: fashionable work attire; presentable and stylish cocktail attire for meetings with clients; and fun and put-together looks for upcoming holiday parties. Many of her pieces were used multiple times showing the versatility of her line.

Simply Positive Jewelry was on hand to add that extra touch to the already polished look of the models who strutted down the runway.

Complimentary photography was also provided by Dave of Dave Kramer Photography, said Tisa.

Other photographers were on hand as well, creating a paparazzi feel as the girls exited the runway.

Prizes and giveaways were offered by several vendors. The lucky winners at the end of the night were Hannah May, with Arbonne and Tricia Moon with the Petya Edwards Foundation.

The White Space in Dallas, the location of the event, was perfect as the floor plan was accommodating for the flow of the fashion show but also provided all of the vendors the amenities they needed. Mary Denson, Vice President of Event Sales and Marketing, was on hand to make

sure the event went smoothly.

She and the entire team at White Space did an awesome job, said the Chapter President. I also thank all of our members and guests who helped make the Fashion Show and Expo such a great success!

Louisville, Kentucky (PRWEB) October 25, 2012 Dr. Laurence N. Benz, DPT, OCS, MBA, President/CEO of PT Development LLC, co-founder of Evidence In Motion (EIM), and operator of nearly 40 clinics [...]

Louisville, Kentucky (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

Dr. Laurence N. Benz, DPT, OCS, MBA, President/CEO of PT Development LLC, co-founder of Evidence In Motion (EIM), and operator of nearly 40 clinics in four states, was named the national winner of the Private Practice Section 2012 Robert G. Dicus award. Benz is the youngest physical therapist to ever receive this prestigious award. The honor is awarded annually to a single member of the Private Practice Section who demonstrates a tireless commitment to advance the profession through clinical excellence, education, and advocacy; and provides meaningful contributions to the American Physical Therapy Association and other industry related organizations. Benz accepted the award yesterday among 1,500 of his peers at the sections national meeting opening ceremony held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After earning his masters in physical therapy from Baylor University, Dr. Benzs passionate mission to elevate the physical therapy industry began. Throughout the last 25 years, Benzs steadfast efforts to make a difference have yielded measurable results in the areas of physical therapy education, coalition building to influence legislation, innovative care, and philanthropy.

As co-founder of EIM, Benz and his partners have been committed to providing cutting-edge programs, research, resources, and evidence-based training to the worlds community of practicing physical therapists. During the past year, EIM has grown to become the largest provider of post-professional educational programs in the PT industry and now offers Transitional Doctorate programs to Canadian and Caribbean physical therapists.

According to Dr. Benz, one of his greatest achievements was the pivotal role he played in passing Kentucky legislation to equalize physical therapy and primary care co-pays. When Benz decided to take action, he worked with the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association to raise awareness about the issue, mobilized Kentucky physical therapists to join together in support of the effort, met with legislative leaders to explain the need for the bill, and testified at Senate hearings. Successfully passing this legislation was a huge win for the physical therapy industry as it helped set a precedent for other physical therapists around the country experiencing similar challenges in their states. The victory also led Benz to help launch a national physical therapy business coalition – the Physical Therapy Business Alliance (PTBA). The PTBA mission is to improve business conditions for independent physical therapy practices. This alliance now represents over 30 Practices in more than 20 states with over 250 locations and 750 licensed therapists.

Benzs unrelenting goal to keep physical therapists on the forefront of innovative care, recently led him to join forces with the industry’s most influential and successful stakeholders to create and launch a nationally-scaled, neurologic physical therapy training institution. The new Louisville-based venture, NeuroRecovery Training Institute (NeuroRTI), will begin accepting applications for residency classes in October 2012.

Equal amounts of energy and passion for the physical therapy industry are represented in Benzs philanthropic endeavors. Following the 2010 catastrophic earthquake in Haiti, Dr. Benz founded Jacmel Rehab, a physical therapy clinic that offers free treatment to local citizens. Benz is especially proud that through new partnerships and the support of his network of volunteers and colleagues, he has been able to sustain the Jacmel clinic as well as expand his philanthropic interest in Haiti to include Kenbe Fem, a childrens home that provides housing and care for 22 Haitian children.

I am deeply humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award, says Benz. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to my family, mentors, coaches, partners, and staff who have helped support and sustain my passion for physical therapy. I am fortunate to serve a profession that I truly love.

Her father, Sushant Menon, said: “I noticed my daughter was not very social, she was hesitant to talk to people. So, I thought maybe we were doing something wrong.
Top Story: Scottish Council’s could be on a collision course with the Government over plans to call a halt to all rural school closures in the next year. The Convention of Scottish Local Authorities launched a sustained attack today on Education Secretary Michael Russell who wants a one year moratorium on closures pending a review of the provision of education in rural communities. Also in the news; a series of fires deliberately started across Aberdeen is being investigated by police. In sport; former St Johnstone defender, Danny Grainger has described his time with the the Perth side as his “best in football”.
Honoring Red Ribbon Week and its message of prevention and education, The Church of Scientology National Affairs Office in Washington, D.C. co-hosted the first annual anti-drug forum of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World on October 22.

Held in Chestnut Hall in the new National Affairs Office in Fraser Mansion at Dupont Circle, the forum focused on effective strategies to reduce the demand for illicit drugs. It was chaired by Jesse Morrow, Social Reform Director of the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office.

Red Ribbon week is a national drug prevention and education week, held in the last week of October each year to honor the memory of DEA agent Enrique Kiki Camarena, who was tortured and killed in 1985 by drug traffickers while working undercover in Mexico.

This slam poem was written and performed for an assignment in an English education university course. The teacher at whom this poem is ostensibly directed is fictional. It is not meant to “bash” teachers: it is an articulation of an ideal, a personal ideal, to which very few, I believe, due to economic constraints and other mitigating factors, have even the opportunity to attempt to live up to. I dedicate this poem to all the great teachers out there, and in particular, those who have inspired and continue to inspire me to this day. –Andrew Catterall

Highland, Michigan (PRWEB) October 24, 2012

Eat to Win was honored to be among the exhibitors (affiliates) participating at the National Black Child Development Institutes (NBCDI) conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL October 6-9, 2012. This was the 42nd Annual conference for the NBCDI and is one of the countrys leading professional development gatherings for those working to improve the lives of black children and their families.

The annual conference reaches out to 2,000 individuals from around the country, who serve 2.5 million children and families in their respective communities.

“We were so thrilled to meet some of the key leaders in the country who are heavily involved in working to fight childhood obesity, said Gary Gabel, the Co-Founder of Eat to Win.

The Southern Obesity Summit was held October 14th through the 16th in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Summit came about because leaders in the fields of education, government and healthcare feel there is a need to develop a plan that will address the obesity epidemic plaguing the South. Representatives from sixteen Southern states met to share experiences and explore issues they face in confronting obesity.

Participants were able to see how Eat to Win games can help parents and schools teach children healthier eating habits. The FuNutritional Board Game is a 2012 Parent Tested Parent Approved Award winner and helps children learn the importance of nutrition, healthy eating and physical activity. The Weight Loss Reality Game, Creative Child Magazines 2012 Game of the Year, is focused on the specific universe of children who are overweight and need to find an innovative way to change their eating habits. Attendees also previewed Eat to Wins Classroom Flash Cards for Preschool through Fifth Grade, expected to be released by mid-November.

One participant, Kristen Kieren, Assistant Director, Louisiana Health Care Commission said, This is a fantastic line of products. I look forward to passing on this information to everyone I work with.

Jammi Roscoe, of Eat to Win summarized the Summit as an important opportunity for those of us who care about childhood obesity to share our strategies.
